Senior Project Manager, National Reconciliation & Local Governance

FCA is seeking a Senior Project Manager for its Somalia Country Office as well as the Network for Religious and Traditional Peacemakers, based in Mogadishu, Somalia – responsible for the management of a project supporting national reconciliation and local governance in the country.

Main areas of responsibility include:

• Oversight of implementation of a project on national reconciliation and local governance in Somalia, under the purview of the Somalia Country Office (SOCO), implemented jointly with the Network for Religious and Traditional Peacemakers (NRTP). Responsibilities comprise oversight of programmatic and budgetary planning, implementation and monitoring, including oversight of contractual, financial and programmatic compliance;
• Responsibility for liaison with donor governments, the Somali government counterparts, and implementing partners, as well as coordination with other international and local actors implementing peacebuilding, dialogue and governance related programmes in Somalia;
• Preparation and review of concept notes, budgets, project reports and procurement plans - ensuring programmatic and financial compliance;
• Provision of technical and programmatic guidance on the development of local governance structures and national peacebuilding policies and frameworks in Somalia, inclusive of ensuring complimentary between in between FCA’s programmatic work in this realm;
• Plan for and monitor implementation by partners and service providers, assuring contractual compliance and adherence to FCA rules and regulations;
• Preparation and organization of programmatic meetings, such as the project steering committee.

Competence and Personal Requirements:

• University degree (post-graduate level) in a relevant field, e.g. peace and conflict studies, international relations, development studies, human rights or similar
• A minimum of five years of relevant professional experience from mediation, peacebuilding, governance and/or development sector
• Thematic expertise in peacebuilding, mediation, conflict transformation and inclusive governance
• Regional expertise and experience of working with/in countries in the Horn of Africa region
• Experience in project management, including the planning, implementation, M&E and reporting
• Experience in developing funding proposals, budgeting and financial reporting
• Excellent skills in analytical thinking and professional writing
• Excellent communication and inter-personal skills and experience working in a multi-cultural environment;
• Fluent in oral and written English
• Excellent organisational skills and to proactively manage and coordinate work.
• Ability to meet deadlines under pressure.

The position is fixed-term for one year, with six months’ probation period, starting as soon as possible. The compensation is based on FCA Compensation System and depends on prior work experience.
