CMI – Martti Ahtisaari Peace Foundation is an independent Finnish organisation that works to prevent and resolve conflicts through dialogue and mediation. Founded in 2000 by Nobel Peace Laureate and former President of Finland Martti Ahtisaari, we have since grown to be a leader in the field of international peacemaking.

We are now seeking a Senior Manager or Head for the Planning, Monitoring and Evaluation team. The level of the position will depend on the chosen candidate's background and experience. 

The responsibilities will include:

  • Leading Planning, Monitoring, and Evaluation (PME) processes, including their management and development
  • Providing analysis, design, PME support to implementing teams
  • Planning and conducting of internal reviews, evaluations processes
  • PME support to Leadership (decision-making, sparring). Advising on CMI programmatic development, and on emerging initiatives
  • PME-related outreach and complementarity (Finnish and global peers, ‘following the scene’)

A successful candidate is expected to have:

  • At least seven years of relevant work experience in conflict resolution, international peace and security. Experience in working independently with PME processes is seen as a strong asset.
  • A Master’s degree in a relevant field of study
  • Advanced knowledge of Results-Based Management (RBM) or Monitoring & Evaluation (M&E) approaches. Previous experience in programmatic evaluations or self-evaluation methodologies is seen as a strong asset.
  • Excellent facilitation and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong organizational and planning skills, creativity, and conflict sensitivity and judgement.
  • A flexible attitude and ability to work under pressure in at times challenging circumstances.
  • Strong analytical and writing skills as well as good IT skills.
  • Fluent written and spoken skills in English and Finnish.
  • Commitment to the CMI values and principles of neutrality.

The contract will be for one year, starting as soon as possible, with a possibility of renewal and placed in Helsinki. A work permit for Finland is required.
