CMI – Martti Ahtisaari Peace Foundation is an independent Finnish organisation that works to prevent and resolve conflicts through dialogue and mediation. Founded in 2000 by Nobel Peace Laureate and former President of Finland Martti Ahtisaari, we have since grown to be a leader in the field of international peace making.

CMI is seeking a PROJECT MANAGER for its Yemen -project in the Middle East and North Africa team for a fixed term position until 31.12.2025.

The Project Manager will be responsible for:

  • Project management including planning, implementation, monitoring and reporting, as well as budget management and donor compliance;
  • Monitoring contextual developments, drafting background materials, including e.g. conflict analysis, stakeholder mapping and regional dynamics, and providing working-level analysis (substantive briefs and notes) as requested;
  • Drafting internal and donor reports, and internal and external written products such as briefing notes, meeting notes, non-papers etc;
  • Coordinating and organising complex, high profile events;
  • Liaising with external stakeholders on organizational and operational questions and participating in regular meetings and travels to the region to substantively engage with stakeholders;
  • Representing CMI, liaising with partners and developing networks and partnerships
  • Producing new initiatives/concepts and fundraising for the project and contribution to programme development in MENA.

A successful candidate is expected to:

  • Have a minimum of five (5) years of international experience in the field of dialogue, mediation or peacebuilding in the Middle East region
  • Have a demonstrated strong interest in issues related to conflict resolution, understanding of key conflict dynamics in and around Yemen as well as practical (field) experience is considered an asset
  • Have solid leadership and project management skills (e.g. strategic development, budgeting, results-based management)
  • Have excellent communication and teamworking skills as well as experience in working with international organizations and on politically sensitive matters
  • Have excellent organisational and planning skills, creativity, gender sensitivity and good political judgement
  • Have a flexible attitude and ability to work in a dynamic, international team with sometimes tight timelines and under pressure
  • Have strong analytical and writing skills as well as good IT skills
  • Have fluent written and spoken skills in English, knowledge of Arab is considered an asset
  • Be willing to travel to target countries with challenging operational contexts, if needed
  • Have a university degree from a relevant field
  • Commit to CMI values and principle of impartiality
