Ortho-Prosthetist

Finnish Red Cross in partnership with the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) is looking for an Ortho-Prosthetist to Beirut, Lebanon, for 12 months with possible extension, starting in January 2022.

The position is a joint Finnish Red Cross (FRC) and the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) effort to contribute to implementation of the Physical Rehabilitation Programme (PRP) activities in Lebanon. Secondly, the aim is also to help to define the future orientation of the Red Cross program embedded in the national health strategy.

The main task of the Ortho-Prosthetist is to support improved service provision capacity at the Lebanese Red Cross Physical Rehabilitation Centre in Mount Lebanon in Alley town, around 60 % of assignment. The person works in the center along with the multidisciplinary team and provides technical and managerial capacity building. This scope entails supporting the establishment of the Center and implementing the ICRC guidelines and treatment protocols.

Around 40% the assignment will be allocated to support the ICRC PRP Lebanon team. This includes evaluating the PRP services provided by the ICRC partners in Beirut, Tripoli, Saida and Bekha; field visits in remote areas such as refugee camps in Arsal, Akhar and Chebaa; and support to persons with physical disabilities living in detention centers.

The delegate is based in Beirut. This can be a family-post.

Required qualifications and personal qualities:

• Certified Prosthetist and Orthotist (BSc level or equivalent)
• Previous exposure to management of physical rehabilitation services
• Previous work experience in middle-income settings
• Fluent in English (oral and written)
• Good computer literacy skills (Word, Excel, PPT)
• Good communication and negotiation skills
• Good team player
• Ability to work independently
