FCA Humanitarian Roster is a register of pre-selected candidates who are deployed to support FCA’s Country Programmes, or FCA partners, in their response during large-scale sudden onset emergencies, or to initiate a new program in the disaster area.  Members may also be deployed to support FCA Country Programs in protracted humanitarian crises. The exact job description will vary with each request and assignment.

Logistics Coordinator

General description

The Logistics Coordinator is focused on the role of leading, coordinating and supervising supply activities within the Country Office or operation. The Logistics Coordinator maintains contact with partners, other NGOs, UN agencies, government partners and commercial contractors in the area to facilitate the operation.

Examples of duties and responsibilities

  • Supporting FCA program management in context of:

    - IDP and/or refugee camps

    -  Conflict contexts

    -  Natural disasters

  • Prepare plans for delivery of relief items according to FCA's short and medium term

    requirements

  • Ensure adequate capacity to respond to an emergency and develop contingency plans for

    the supply function as part of the operational plan.

  • Identify partners for supply chain projects based on objectives, priorities, strengths and

    resources of the implementing partner and/or contractor, according to criteria consistent

    with FCA guidelines.

  • Develop relevant contacts and build constructive relations with implementing partners, government authorities, UN agencies and others, to foster mutual cooperation for the

    timely delivery of relief items avoiding bottlenecks.

  • Coordinate, manage and support all activities pertaining to the supply chain function

    including planning, sourcing, transport, shipping, customs clearance, warehousing, asset

    and fleet management in the operation. 

  • Identify, assess and select vendors based on their capability for delivering commodities

    and services.

  • Maintain vendor and item master databases.

  • Implement effective asset and fleet management that regularly monitors the asset/fleet

    pool, saves cost and safeguards the investment of the organisation.

  • Monitor the quality and accuracy of supply chain related data in relevant business

    systems. 

Required qualifications and competencies

Education and Work Experience

  • Education:  Advanced University/Master’s degree 

  • A minimum of 3 years working experience, also in the humanitarian context

Technical Competencies

  • Relevant educational background and information technology skills

  • Strong understanding of the humanitarian emergency operating context, the humanitarian system and its flexibility and supply chain management during emergencies or post disaster situations

  • Experience working in difficult context- including budget holding responsibility and management of procurement/logistical procedures

  • Computer and admin skills

  • Proficiency in one (preferable two)  languages. English is obligatory.
