Main purpose of the position is to manage FCA’s emergency work in line with FCA’s Global and Humanitarian Strategy. We are looking for a person with a solid expertise and working experience in the humanitarian sector.

The post will be located in the Humanitarian Assistance Unit (HUA) in Helsinki, in the department of International Programme. HUA consists five staff members stationed in Helsinki and works in a close collaboration with humanitarian staff in FCA’s Country Offices.  Humanitarian Manager will report to the Head of Humanitarian Assistance Aid Unit.

Main duties and responsibilities: 

  • To manage emergency operations in FCA's non-program countries, including program administration and financial management

  • To provide targeted support to FCA’s country offices during acute emergencies, when requested  

  • Deployed to emergency operations both in new emergencies and to cover strategic human resource gaps in FCA’s country offices 

  • To support communications and fund-raising efforts related to FCA’s emergency operations 

  • To identify and develop new initiatives, programming and cooperation opportunities with other like-minded humanitarian actors

  • Development of tools, practices and systems for FCA’s humanitarian programming

  • Global follow-up of emergencies and disasters, focus on FCA’s non-program countries 

Competence and Personal Requirements:

  • Master’s Degree or equivalent work experience

  • Minimum of five years’ working experience in the humanitarian sector

  • Solid experience of emergency work in field operations, especially working in fragile contexts

  • Experience in FCA’s thematic sectors and cash based approaches in humanitarian assistance

  • Knowledge in Humanitarian Program cycle, covering assessments, implementation, monitoring, reporting and evaluations 

  • Extensive understanding and knowledge of approaches, frameworks, methodologies, standards, principles and International Humanitarian Law, which are adhered in humanitarian assistance and ability to transfer this knowledge into FCA’s programs

  • Experience in funding mobilization and grant management, including financial management of projects  

  • Strong coordination skills and working experience in multicultural settings

  • Good communication and facilitation skills 

  • Flexibility and readiness to travel to project implementation sites and work in challenging circumstances and under pressure 

  • Fluency in written and oral English; Finnish, Swedish, French and Arabic are an asset

This is a fixed term position until 31 March 2022 with a six-month probation period, starting 1.4.2021. The compensation is based on FCA Compensation System and depends on prior work experience.
