Finn Church Aid (FCA) is looking for a substitute for the Head of Internal Audit for a fixed term of around two years.

The Head of Internal Audit provides the senior management of FCA a systematic and consultative approach to evaluate efficiency of the organisation, and to develop organisation’s control, management and administrative processes as well as risk management. In addition, purpose of the position is to promote good governance and prevent misconduct. 

The Head of Internal Audit is a member of the Executive Director’s team and reports to the Audit Committee of the Board of Directors. In addition to the Board and the Audit Committee, the Head of Internal Audit collaborates with the senior management, the Standing Complaints Committee, the International Operations Team and the Procurement Review Committee.

Duties and responsibilities: 

  • To provide evaluations of operational reliability concerning operations, processes, systems, projects, working methods or modes of operation under review

  • To provide overall evaluations of operational reliability of organisation’s processes concerning risk management, controls, management and administration

  • To provide proposals to improve operational reliability 

  • To produce studies, analysis and statements to senior management and the Audit Committee

  • To conduct special assignments as requested by the Audit Committee

  • To manage investigations concerning financial misconduct

  • To provide training and advice in operational management and other areas of internal audit function’s expertise, e.g. good governance

  • To conduct urgent assignments to secure operations or property when needed

  • To purchase, steer and monitor relevant external evaluation and consultancy services.

Competence and Personal Requirements:

  • Master’s degree in a relevant discipline

  • Knowledge of and experience in internal audit, internal controls and relevant international standards of internal audit

  • Knowledge of and working experience in international aid sector

  • Experience in evaluating controls within processes and describing processes

  • Knowledge of quality management systems

  • Ability to work independently and under pressure

  • Objective, accurate and analytical working method; ability to manage large entities 

  • Good command of written and spoken English; Finnish and French are an asset 

  • Good interaction and cooperation skills

  • Ability to collaborate in a multicultural environment 

  • Readiness to travel

This is a fixed term position until 30 September 2022 with a six-month probation period, starting as soon as possible. The position is based in Helsinki, Finland. However, depending on the candidate’s residence, teleworking may be an option.
