Climate and global development organization U-landshjälp från Folk till Folk i Finland (rf) is a Finnish non-profit organization that has been collecting donated clothes for the past 30 years with the purpose of fundraising for climate work in Finland and multi-sectorial development projects overseas.

We are a part of the European knowledge hub acting for the international network of NGOs Humana People to People and representing and supporting the work of local member organizations in Sub-Saharan Africa, Latin America and Asia. Member organizations currently run over 400 projects with own funds as well as with funding from national, bilateral and multilateral donors.

Our Partnership Department in Finland is looking for a Global Development Resource Mobilization Specialist. The position requires occasional travel but is primarily based in the Klaukkala office about 30 kilometers from Helsinki center.

Description of the Role

Global Development Resource Mobilization Specialist will help UFF and local Humana member organizations to identify development cooperation funding opportunities and to lead and coordinate the design process together with local partner organizations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Resource mobilization: identifying funding opprtunities from European, multilateral and private donors. Driving the design of projects, identifying potential technical partners and developing high quality proposals in cooperation with local partners and other team members.
  • Technical support to local member organizations: providing expert knowledge and technical support for the global development projecs that are related mainly to education, employment, environment/agriculture – in line with local members’ approaches and strategies. Supporting their engagement with in-country multilateral aid agencies and focal points.
  • Institutional representation: participating in international education, employment and/or environment network with focus on climate work.
  • Justification of projects: responding to donor demands and clarifications as part of the projects management cycle. Ensuring the completion of reports and financials within established time frames.
  • Other practical communication and fundraising activities of the organization.

Qualifications and experience:

  • University education in a relevant field
  • Previous experience of working in NGOs and/or donor agencies
  • Minimum of 3 years of relevant professional experience in global development project administration with direct relationship with institutional donors
  • Demonstrated leadership in coordination of proposals and projects
  • Demonstrated experience in project management cycle, including proposal development and project management, development of budgets and reports
  • Proficient writing and editing skills in English with other languages such as Portuguese, Finnish, Swedish, German, Spanish and French considered a plus
  • Proven knowledge of multilateral and international partners and agencies (WB, UNESCO, EU) will be an asset
  • Experience in working in a dynamic and multi-cultural organization
  • Excellent communication, networking and interpersonal skills
  • Skill set to manage international and external relationships constructively, diplomatically and with discretion
  • Adaptability and the ability to meet deadlines under pressure
  • Positive and enthusiastic attitude to global development and to Humana’s work
  • Candidates must have EU-citizenship or a valid EU residence permit. Relocation expenses are not provided for.
