European Aid Volunteers

The Red Cross project consortium of the “EU Aid Volunteers supporting resilience of vulnerable communities and capacity building within the Red Cross Red Crescent Movement (VinReCa)” deploys 36 EU Aid Volunteers to missions in nine countries. The sending organizations are the Finnish Red Cross and the German Red Cross. The initiative has received funding from the European Union.

The objective of the initiative is to contribute through EU Aid Volunteer deployments to the activities of the hosting organizations that aim at strengthening disaster risk reduction and resilience of vulnerable communities, and to support through EU Aid Volunteers deployments the organizational, technical and operational capacity of the hosting organizations to prepare and respond to humanitarian crises more effectively. Furthermore, the objective is to organize capacity building activities with the help of EU Aid Volunteers, that target local Red Cross Red Crescent structures, staff members, volunteers and vulnerable communities.

The role of the EU Aid Volunteers is to support hosting organizations in tasks that require general or specific expertise. Focus is on disaster risk reduction, resilience and organizational development and capacity building related activities. Through the project, the disaster reduction and resilience activities of the hosting organizations are strengthened, and their organizational, technical and operational capacities are built.

The following 18 positions in four hosting organizations, in which the Finnish Red Cross is acting as the sending organization, are open for applications until January 13th, 2019.
