Country Delegate, Ethiopia

The Finnish Red Cross (FRC) is part of the Red Cross Red Crescent (RCRC) Movement, the world’s largest humanitarian network with millions of volunteers and staff operating in over 190 countries. FRC is seeking a Country Delegate for the East Africa team. The position will be for two-years fixed-term and placed in Ethiopia. Starting date is negotiable, preferably latest in the beginning of December 2022.

Purpose

The main purpose of the Country Delegate is to facilitate good humanitarian and programmatic cooperation and institutional partnership between Finnish Red Cross and Ethiopia Red Cross Society for the benefit of most vulnerable population groups – men, women, boys, and girls of all ages, of all backgrounds and abilities.

Main responsibilities

• Strategic planning and management of Finnish Red Cross cooperation strategies with Ethiopia Red Cross society
• Represent of Finnish Red Cross in Ethiopia, network and liaise with ERCS and RC Movement partners as well as national stakeholders
• Ensure quality implementation of Finnish Red Cross programmes including optimal use of financial resources and high quality and timely reporting in compliance with donor contracts and Finnish Red Cross rules and regulations assisted by the Regional Finance and Admin Delegate
• Work in close cooperation with the local staff members dedicated to Finnish Red Cross projects by ERCS in Addis
• Facilitate and ensure adequate technical support to and capacity building of programmes and operations
• Monitor the humanitarian situation in the country and in the areas of cooperation and facilitate timely and effective provision support to ERCS, IFRC or ICRC emergency operations
• Resource mobilisation and development of new cooperation initiatives
