Position’s purpose is to coordinate the Teachers Without Borders network coordination and develop international volunteer work within the TWB. 

The position is within the International Programme department, Programme Development unit in Helsinki. The coordinator reports to the Manager of International Voluntary Work. 

Main duties and responsibilities:

  • Coordination of international volunteer work of TWB. Overall responsibility of the deployments: recruitment, training, sending, reporting, return of volunteers.  

  • Responsible for the planning, monitoring and evaluation of TwB

  • Developing and coordinating activities for returned TWBs and others interested in engaging in the network

  • Facilitating active participation of TWB Steering Group members and returned volunteers

  • Support and coordination of the Steering Committee as well as cooperation with ministries and other relevant national and international networks

  • Support the Steering Committee on building publicity for the TWB 

  • Cooperation and networking with other organisations interested to join the TWB network in Finland

  • Development of TWB network structures and funding, with other possible network members

  • Advocacy work in education field with the relevant partners as a part of FCA’s Global Advocacy Team

  • As part of FCA’s education team develop FCA’s R2QE programme from the TwB perspective

Competence and Personal Requirements:

  • Master’s degree in relevant field (preferably education and/or development)

  • Good knowledge of approaches and methodology of advocacy and development cooperation

  • Good skills in managing and leading volunteers 

  • Good understanding of being a volunteer in challenging contexts and the necessary support 

  • Good skills at planning, coordinating and motivating voluntary work

  • Cooperation and networking skills

  • Excellent organizing skills

  • Interaction skills

  • Knowledge of national and international education structures

  • Knowledge of the Finnish teacher training system and experience of working as a teacher

  • Language skills:Excellent  Finnish and English, French is an asset

  • Good knowledge of FCA Right to Education theme

  • Ability to work independently and to deadlines

Position is permanent with four months’ probation period, starting as soon as possible. The compensation is based on FCA Compensation System and depends on prior work experience.
