Are you looking for a job that is meaningful and challenging? At Finn Church Aid, Finland’s largest international development NGO, we are looking for a new colleague to join us as a full time permanent Controller in our Global Controlling Unit. 

You will work in our Finance and Operations’ Support Department at FCA’s Service and Accountability Centre (SAC). As a controller you will work in close collaboration with colleagues within your Unit and Department, as well as other dedicated professionals both in Finland and abroad. The position is preferably located in our Helsinki office, yet remote work can be considered.

Primary purpose of the position: 

Planning, support, control and development of the financial management of the Group, from a Financial Controlling and Internal Control perspective, supporting colleagues through technical capacity building (Inductions, Trainings, On the job support) and enforcing the applicable internal policies, as well as taking an active role, as a lead or support, in financial planning, budgeting, estimating, month/year end closing and management reporting. Typically, you will be allocated a portfolio of countries and/or group entities that you will take under your care from a Controlling perspective. In addition, you will contribute to or lead horizontal finance projects such as process development, systems’ developments etc.

Competence and Personal Requirements:

  • Bachelor's or master's degree majoring in accounting/business/economics OR suitable experience in Finance/Accounting/Controlling
  • Experience in independently managing financial tasks, preferably part of which is acquired in an international organization
  • Ability to understand the impact of the operating environment on the organization and supervision of financial management
  • Ability to observe, analyze and make interpretations of activities based on internal and external financial information to support decision-making
  • Understanding the overall picture of project planning and reporting
  • Independent and active approach to work, analytical problem-solving capability
  • Team spirit and service minded across organizational entities
  • Advanced Excel know-how 
  • Ability to adopt financial management systems
  • The ability to make effective use of financial management systems in both Helsinki and the countries of operation and to train others in their use
  • Fluent oral and written knowledge of English, other languages are seen as assets (Arabic, French, Ukrainian, Finnish …). 

This is a permanent position with six months’ probation period, starting as soon as possible. The compensation is based on FCA Compensation System and depends on prior work experience. FCA's benefits package includes comprehensive health care and staff capacity building opportunities.
