JOB TITLE Programme Coordinator–ACT Development

DURATION 2 years initially (due to the proposed unification of ACT Development and ACT International)

REPORTS TO Director of ACT Development
TASK ACT Development is looking for a Programme Coordinator to work with a small team of colleagues whose primary task is to romote collaboration between the participants of this new cumenical alliance for development.
Specific responsibilities:
1. to support the development of ACT national and regional forums. This includes:
promoting and working with participants to establish forums according to the ACT policy and
in consultation with ACT International
reviewing the Memorandum of Understandings developed by forums to ensure that they
comply with ACT policies
ensuring that forums are regularly updated on new programmes, policies and procedures
within ACT Development
regular communication with ACT forums to ensure that issues that they are working on, and
/or concerns that they have are adequately addressed within the Secretariat, and where
appropriate, the Executive Committee
promoting the sharing of knowledge between different forums
helping forums to resolve any difficulties that arise between participants
2. to promote collaboration between ACT Development participants on specific programmes as
identified in the annual plan. This includes:
policy development around specific thematic issues (eg: water and sanitation, malaria, aid
effectiveness etc)
following policy debates amongst international development actors and working with ACT
Development participants to ensure an appropriate response
working with participants (in particular lead agencies) to develop alliance-wide programmes
on priority issues
ensuring best practice within the alliance is shared with others
3. To promote ACT Development through:
giving presentations to, and engaging in discussions with, participants, potential participants
and the wider ecumenical family on ACT Development
supporting the discussions regarding the unification of ACT Development and ACT
International through the preparation of appropriate documents and working collaboratively
with ACT International staff
Qualifications and Special Requirements:
1. University degree in a related field
2. Demonstrated ecumenical commitment and familiarity with the structured life of the churches
and of the ecumenical movement
3. Significant experience (at least 5 years) of development work
4. Strong facilitation skills and experience of working with groups
5. Good analytical skills
6. Demonstrated ability to work in fast-paced environment while at same time attending to longterm
strategic goals
7. Ability to work independently
8. Willingness to be flexible and to undertake different types of work as required by the alliance
9. High oral and written competency in English
10. Excellent presentation skills
11. Ability to write and communicate verbally in either French or Spanish an advantage
12. Strong cross-cultural competency.
13. Computer literacy
