Finn Church Aid (FCA) is Finland’s biggest development co-operation organisation and the second biggest organisation in Finland working in humanitarian aid. Finn Church Aid is a member of the ACT Alliance (ACT), an alliance of faith-based development and humanitarian aid organisations forming one of the world’s largest aid organisations.

FCA hosts the Secretariat for the Network for Religious and Traditional Peacemakers (Network), a network that brings together actors to provide global support for grassroots to international peacemaking and peacebuilding efforts. The activities of the Network involve approximately 50 active organisations around the globe.

Network Asia Coordinator – based in Bangkok, Thailand

Finn Church Aid (FCA) is seeking a Network Asia Coordinator to the Secretariat of the Network for Religious and Traditional Peacemakers for fixed-term employment based in Bangkok. She/he supports the programmatic activities and coordination of the Network activities in Asia. The Network Asia coordinator also ensures development of effective communication materials to provide peace support to intra and inter-faith focused actions/processes in Asia. The Network Secretariat consists of approximately 12 staff members that work in four different continents.

Areas of responsibility include:

  • Coordinate Network Asia Working Group of approximately 20 regional actors and provide programmatic support to Network projects in Asia;
  • Lead strategic planning and implementation of the communication plan on Buddhist-Muslim relationship building regionally;
  • Seek concrete synergies with FCA Right to Peace programmatic work in Asia;
  • Ensure that administrative deadlines are met regarding the Network work in Asia.

Competence and Personal Requirements:

  • Bachelor Degree in political sciences, media and communications, or other relevant field.
  • At least 2 year professional related experience.
  • Previous experience in project support work.
  • Fluent in oral and written English, knowledge of local languages is seen as an asset.
  • Experience in developing and implementing large communication initiatives.
  • Proven problem solving skills and strategic planning capability with creative skills.
  • Good attention to detail and numerate.
  • Excellent communication and inter-personal skills.
  • Sound organizational skills and initiative to proactively manage work.
  • Ability to meet deadlines under pressure.
  • Strong administrative skills.

The temporary half-time (50%) position until 31.12.2018 will start as soon as possible and is based in Bangkok, Thailand. The salary is based on FCA Salary System and there is a four month probation period in the beginning of employment.
